Broad Run Valley Park is located within the Loudoun Valley Estates community in Ashburn. The property consists of 131 acres along the Broad Run stream valley corridor, with nature trails, open space and interpretive signs. The park is located in the Blue Ridge and Dulles election districts.

Public input on naming the properties was initially sought by advertising through local and social media. Suggestions were accepted through November 21, 2014. Thirteen possible names were submitted. Consistent with the Board of Supervisors’ Policy on Naming Public Facilities, the Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Board reviewed all submitted suggestions at its December 6, 2014 meeting. The PROS Board voted 9-0-2 to recommend the two names. The original solicitation included a third park, known as the C.D. Smith park site in Stone Ridge, VA, adjacent to John Champe High School. Naming of this park site was deferred by the PROS Board until another public solicitation process is initiated.
