New Rita's Italian Ice Opens In Ashburn, Free Rita's For A Year Giveaway Planned

ASHBURN, VA — Loudoun County's second Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard is open in Ashburn and will have a free Rita's for a year giveaway at its grand opening.

The grand opening for the location at 21020 Sycolin Road in Ashburn will happen Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Starting at 3 p.m., Rita's will give the first 50 customers in line free Rita's Italian Ice for a year. The promotion is limited to one per household, and verification may be required. The coupons will only be redeemable at the 21020 Sycolin Road location in Ashburn.

The grand opening will also feature photo opps with Rita’s mascot Ice Guy, the Rita’s prize wheel, merchandise giveaways, a face painter, all-day specials of $2 Small Italian Ices and $3 Small Gelatis on Saturday and Sunday. Franchise owner Francis Santamaria will hold a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Santamaria will donate 10 percent of Saturday's sales to Veterans Moving Forward, a Loudoun County-based organization that provides service dogs, facility dogs, and emotional support dogs to veterans experiencing physical or mental health challenges at no cost to the veteran or their family.

The Rita's Italian Ice location will feature Italian ice made on site. Flavors will rotate daily from a selection of 75 flavors. Other menu items are Frozen Custard, Gelati, Concretes, Milkshakes and more.

Rita's, first founded in 1984 in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, is the world's largest Italian ice concept and has about 550 shops. Loudoun County's other Rita's location is at the Village at Leesburg. Rita’s is looking for additional franchise owners to expand around the U.S.
