New Year's: Stabbing Arrest, Stranger Destroys Holiday Decorations, Keyed Cars and More

It was an unhappy start to 2015 for some, with several incidents reported in the early morning hours Jan. 1 in the Ashburn area.

Not everyone was celebrating 2015 on New Year’s Day. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office reports several incidents in Ashburn and Sterling early Jan. 1:

  • Deputies responded to the stabbing of an adult male at 2:44 a.m. in the 45300 block of Catalina Court in Sterling. The incident appears to be domestic-related. Kathleen N. Gallagher, 25, of Sterling, was charged with malicious wounding.
  • A Sterling resident in the 200 block of Hanover Place contacted police at 4:15 a.m. regarding an unknown woman banging on the front door. A holiday decoration was reportedly damaged in the incident. Morgan L. Morrell, 27, of Woodbridge was charged with destruction of property and drunk in public.
  • Five cars in the 21700 block of Slate Range Terrace were found “keyed” sometime in the overnight ours or early Thursday morning.
  • Fast food restaurant mangers in the 44100 block of Ashburn Shopping Plaza contacted police when they found a man asleep in the bathroom. The suspect, 31, of Ashburn, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
