VIRGINIA — Back to add some heat to your summer dishes, Old Bay Hot Sauce is being stocked in District and northern Virginia grocery stores and was listed for sale on McCormick's website this week.

The spice company suggests using the popular condiment to add some heat to deviled eggs, Bloody Mary cocktails, lettuce wedge salads, pasta and potato salads, fried chicken, crab cakes, dips, and other seasonal foods.

When the product was first sold in January 2020, supplies of the hot sauce ran out within 40 minutes, a McCormick spokesperson told NBC News. It also temporarily crashed the Old Bay website, The Baltimore Sun reported.

"When we first launched this special, limited Old Bay offering in early 2020, we were excited to see the amazing response it received," Jill Pratt, an executive with McCormick, said in a news release. "We knew our loyal Chesapeake-area fans would embrace this hot sauce as the winter escape it was intended to be, however we quickly discovered that fans all over America, and even the world, were seeking it out. We've been fielding requests for its return ever since."

The summer batch of Old Bay Hot Sauce will hit shelves for a limited time at many stores, according to McCormick. Acme, Giant, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Martin's, Safeway, ShopRite, Walmart, Wegmans and Weis, among other stores, plan to sell the product.
