Packing & Moving Tips

By: Arcadia at Willowsford

Packing up your belongings and moving to a beautiful new home should be anything but stressful.  Here at Arcadia Communities, we’re thrilled to welcome you and your family to any of our growing communities, and we want all of our new residents to be as excited as we are. Most importantly, we want them to be relaxed and stress-free as they start this new chapter in their lives.  So, we’ve put together a few expert tips for future homeowners as they move into their new Arcadia Communities home!

Keep Rooms Together

Making sure to keep a certain room’s belongings together as you make the move will save so much time when unpacking.  Chances are, you’ll have more space in your new Arcadia Communities home, so knowing where everything was in your old space will help you plan the layout of your new home!

Labels, Labels, Labels

After you’ve made sure to keep rooms together, make sure to label the boxes by which room they came from.  ‘Kitchen’ and ‘Nursery’ are both simple labels but will indicate to movers where they will go in your new Arcadia Communities home.  It’s important to label every single box; if one gets separated from the rest during the move it’ll prolong your unpacking!

Speaking of labels, make sure to include a list of all of the belongings contained in one box.  If you need to access something before you’re entirely done unpacking, you’ll be able to quickly find it with these descriptive labels.

Choose the Right Box Size

Pack heavier items in smaller boxes and lighter items in bigger boxes.  This will make it easier to carry and will prevent you from packing a large box that no one can lift by themselves.

Get the Most Out of Each Box

Empty gaps in a box?  Fill it with linens, towels, or stuffed animals.  This will help to stabilize the items inside but also helps to get the most space out of each box.  This means fewer boxes overall and easier unpacking.

Reinforce Tape

If it’s a box that doesn’t require tape, or if you’ve already taped it, tape it anyways.  You’ll be using box cutters to open the boxes anyhow so you might as well make sure they won’t fall apart as you move them from the truck to your new home.  A trick used by professional movers is to wrap a single piece of tape around the entire box twice, top to bottom, to reinforce the areas that are prone to fall open.

After you’ve packed like a pro, moving into your new home at Arcadia Chase, Fieldstone, Springs or Willowsford will be a breeze! And after stepping foot in your new home, all the tedious packing will be well worth it.  Learn more about the homes and communities that make choosing Arcadia Communities so much fun!
