Police: Botched Drug Buy Leads to Shooting

Victim treated at hospital for injuries, says Loudoun County Sheriff;s Office

Loudoun County police are investigating a shooting last week that apparently occurred during a botched drug transaction.

The police responded at 11:20 p.m. Saturday to the emergency room at Inova Loudoun Hospital for a report of a male who was assaulted, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Police also responded at 11:10 p.m. Friday to the 1700 block of North Amelia Street in Sterling for a report of possible gunfire. They determined the two incidents were related, according to a police report.

The victim of the Friday night shooting was involved in an attempted drug transaction when a known subject assaulted him. The subject brandished a firearm and one round was discharged, according to police.

The victim was not injured by the discharged round. He fled on foot after receiving non-life-threatening injuries from the assault, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
