Police Warn Residents After Suspect Stole Items From Several Cars In Sterling

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is warning residents not to keep valuables in their cars after thefts in Sterling over the weekend.

STERLING, VA — Authorities in Loudoun County are warning residents to remove valuables from their cars after a series of thefts in Sterling over the weekend.

Authorities have not announced any arrests in connection with the weekend's thefts. However, one of the incidents was caught on camera. Detectives published the video of the incident online.

In a news release, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said the thefts occurred in the Sterling area on Saturday afternoon. Residents reported thefts in several neighborhoods, including Potomac Run Plaza, Dulles Town Circle, Davenport Drive, Lake Center Plaza, Waterview Plaza, and Atlantic Boulevard.

The stolen items included purses, backpacks, and electronics. Each of the victims said they returned to their vehicles and found damaged windows and items missing.

The video from the sheriff's office shows a man approach a car and look inside. He then shatters the back window, reaches into the vehicle, and pulls out a bag before running away.
