Political Signs Damaged, Destroyed In Ashburn: Sheriff's Office

ASHBURN, VA — Several political signs were damaged near One Loudoun in Ashburn, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

The damaged signs shared by the sheriff's office supported Republican candidates Mike Chapman, Michael Rivera, Juan Pablo Segura, Bob Wertz, and Debbie Rose.

Authorities noted that it is not uncommon for signs on private property to be removed. "When it occurs in this manner it constitutes destruction of property and is a criminal act under the Code of Virginia 18.2-137," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook.

No charges have been announced in connection with the destruction of property.

The sheriff's office said it "has been made aware of circumstances that may be connected to this incident." Police officials did not elaborate on Monday.

Incumbent Bob Wertz is hoping to win reelection as the Loudoun County Commissioner of Revenue.

"Republicans will not be intimidated by criminal acts of political opponents," Wertz told patch in an email. "... I look forward to continuing my service to the residents and business owners of Loudoun."
