Redskins Player Cooperating In Reston Woman's Death Investigation

Loudoun County officials said an unconscious woman was brought to an Ashburn hospital by Redskins player Montae Nicholson before she died.

ASHBURN, VA — A 21-year-old Reston woman is dead after she was brought unconscious to an Ashburn hospital Thursday by two men, one of whom was Washington Redskins safety Montae Nicholson. Julia E. Crabbe died shortly after arriving at the Inova Emergency Room-Ashburn HealthPlex, according to reports.

Health officials said Crabbe was unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from what appeared to be a drug overdose, WTOP reported. Loudoun County investigators are still unsure what happened before she was brought to the hospital by Nicholson and a second man.

One person familiar with the situation, however, told The Washington Post that Nicholson and Crabbe were part of a group that went out to dinner before returning to Nicholson's Loudoun County home. The person said the woman was later found unresponsive in a bathroom.

The person also said Nicholson and the other man waited at the emergency room until her family arrived.

A search warrant was served at an Ashburn home, WTOP reported, though the address is unknown. Nicholson is cooperating with authorities and has not been arrested or charged with a crime, though officials tell sources it's likely they'll speak with him as part of the investigation.

Nicholson was also arrested last December after cameras caught the NFL player in a late-night street fight with another person.

Nicholson was not at practice Thursday, though TMZ Sports was told it was due to an ankle injury.

The team issued a statement in response to the incident: "We've been made aware of the tragic event and extend our deepest sympathies to the family who lost a loved one," the statement read. "Our team has alerted the league office and is cooperating with local authorities. We fully support law enforcement and respect their process as they investigate the matter."
