Redskins Stadium in Virginia? What Do You Think?

Owner Dan Snyder is looking for a FedEx Field replacement, and Virginia may have a good chance.

Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder announced this week that he’s looking for the next home for the football team, and Virginia may be in the cards.

Ashburn is the corporate home for the Redskins. Team and staff are frequently spotted at Reston restaurants. And Richmond hosts the team’s off-season training center. And Gov. Terry McAuliffe is ready for the business, according to NBC Washington.

“My job is to grow the economy and I have a team here that is growing the economy. All the players live in Virginia. Most of the season tickets I’m told are Virginians,” McAuliffe said last month at the training camp.

And sources are telling NBC and others that McAuliffe has already discussed the stadium move with Snyder.

Sporting News notes Virginia’s political support for the team’s controversial name, seen by some as a racist slur. That support includes the bipartisan “Redskins Pride Caucus” that has formed in the Statehouse.
