Report Of Armed Man Places Ashburn Elementary School On Alert
A resident called the sheriff's office Monday morning to report seeing a man carrying what appeared to be a firearm.

ASHBURN, VA — Discovery Elementary School in Ashburn was secured Monday morning as a precaution as Loudoun deputies searched the area for an armed man reportedly walking near the school. The man was not found and review of external surveillance video from local businesses did not capture any suspicious activity, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday in a report.
A resident called the sheriff’s office at 9:22 a.m. Monday morning to report seeing a man carrying what appeared to be a firearm while he was crossing Ashburn Village Boulevard between Michener Drive and Grace Bridge Drive. The man was described by the resident as a white male with short hair and wearing a camouflage jacket.
Discovery Elementary School, located at 44020 Grace Bridge Drive, was placed on a "secure the building" status as a precaution as deputies investigated the report of the man carrying a gun.
