Authorities said a Reston man injured himself, filed a false police report and stole money from the store he worked at in the Dulles mall.

STERLING, VA — A Reston man was arrested after authorities said he filed a false police report regarding an alleged stabbing outside the Dulles Town Center mall. Authorities also believe the man stole from the store he worked at in the mall.

On Nov. 10, Fafa summoned law enforcement again. He said he was in the mall's parking lot when two mask-wearing men approached him and stabbed him. Detectives later determined that Fafa lied about the incident and had injured himself, according to the police report.
Investigators also determined that Fafa was responsible for the burglary at Sports Nation on Nov. 8.
On Dec. 15, Fafa was taken into custody. He was released from jail on Dec. 16 on a $1,500 bond.
Authorities believe Fafa entered the Sports Nation store again on Dec. 19 at 9:15 p.m. Investigators said he forcibly removed money from the register. Fafa was subsequently arrested a second time.
