Retired Educators Donate Back-to-School Supplies
Ashby Ponds' seniors collected enough to provide school supplies to 88 children.

Provided, Ashby Ponds:
Just in time for the beginning of the school year, seniors in Ashburn are making this time of year a little easier for parents and students alike. For the past five years, a group of retired educators who live at the Ashby Ponds retirement community has provided school supplies to students headed back to the classroom. The group collects funds and buys school supplies based on lists provided by Loudoun County and Fairfax County. This year, they collected enough to provide school supplies to 88 children.
The beneficiaries of the school supplies are children of hourly employees at Ashby Ponds; each year, a day is dedicated at the community to providing these staff and their children the opportunity to select supplies from crayons to binders to backpacks! This year, more than 22 resident and staff volunteers helped with the distribution event on Friday, August 15.
