As in summers of the past, RiverHawk Productions’ summer production moves away from its Disney-themed shows to bring audiences a more mature and nuanced theatre experience. Audience members will join Cry-Baby and his band of jamboree-ing misfits "the Drapes" as they rock and roll, fall in and out of trouble, and attempt to bridge the gap between this group of teens who feels "nobody gets [them]" and their "squeaky clean" "Square" peers. All the while, they learn that even the adults around them have "done something wrong once" and that, despite all their teenage "misery", things could be “a whole lot worse." Everyone may seem to have a "screw loose", but in the end, they all come to feel that "nothing bad will ever happen again."
“I will say what's so fun about this show is the dancing and the upbeat rockabilly 50s music. Audiences will literally hear every genre of 50s style music in this show and experience fun dancing that matches each,” says Jason Paul Augustowski, RiverHawk’s Executive Director/Choreographer. “The kids work extraordinarily hard to learn a Broadway length show in just three weeks and always look so polished and professional (cast and crew alike). As always, I would like to thank my vocal director, Jill Kerr, producer, Kristie McDonald, all of the incredible parents and students who make up RiverHawk Productions. Every show we do is an absolute honor and pleasure to spend with everyone.”
