Second Annual Macaroni Kid Surprise Family Play Day July 13, 2019

Loudoun County, VIRGINIA -- On Saturday, July 13, 2019, Macaroni Kid is encouraging families to step away from the chaos of daily life and join the Surprise Family Play Day initiative to enjoy a day of family fun together.

What is Surprise Family Play Day?
Surprise Family Play Day is the idea of Macaroni Kid Co-Founder and CEO, Joyce Shulman. It encourages families to dedicate a specific summer day to a surprise day of family fun. The fun can be anything big or small, and the only rule is that it should be a surprise for the kids until July 13.

Families can learn more and get ideas on the Surprise Family Play Day website at www.surprisefamilyplayday.com and share the fun on social media using #MKPlayDay for a chance to be featured on Macaroni Kid social media platforms, and to encourage others to participate.

Why Surprise Family Play Day?
Families are busier than ever and spend less time connecting with each other. According to research from Pew Research Center,

• 84% of parents say they sometimes or always feel rushed, even to do the things they have to do.
• About a third (36%) say they spend too little time with their children.

Additional research from the American College of Pediatricians shows that spending meaningful time together as a family encourages better behavior among children, reduces stress for all family members and creates stronger family bonds.
