STERLING, VA — A man was shot outside a home in Sterling on Sunday night, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

The victim received treatment at an area hospital. On Monday morning, the sheriff's office said he was in stable condition.

The shooting suspect is still at large. Investigators described the shooter as a Hispanic man between 20 and 23 years old. He is between 5 feet, 7 inches and 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds.

Authorities said the shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the 100 block of N. Fillmore Avenue in Sterling. The victim was outside with another man when an argument broke out. During the argument, the other man pulled out a gun and shot the victim, according to investigators.

The two men had encountered each other before, the sheriff's office said.

"We urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist in our investigation," the sheriff's office said in a news release. "Your cooperation is vital in helping us to ensure the safety of the community."
