Shooting In Sterling Stemmed From Noise Complaint About Movers: Police
A Sterling woman faces several charges after police said she fired gunshots toward a vehicle after a previously reported noise complaint.
STERLING, VA — A woman fired gunshots at a vehicle in Sterling on Friday morning after a dispute involving a previous noise complaint, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.
No injuries were reported in the shooting, authorities said.
After the shooting, Loudoun deputies arrested 50-year-old Joann Lawless. Lawless is charged with reckless handling of a firearm, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and shooting across a roadway.

Lawless is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
If convicted, Lawless could face up to 11 years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

The shooting occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Friday in the 46500 block of Riverwood Terrace in Sterling. Deputies said a resident, later identified as Lawless, fired gunshots at a vehicle. Investigators said the shooting occurred after an dispute about a previous noise complaint about movers carrying items into a home.
