Snow Storm to Impact Loudoun Area

Get the salt and shovels ready. A winter snowstorm headed for the Northeast could mean rain, ice and snow in the area this weekend.

Winter Storm Iola was named Wednesday afternoon after storm warnings were issued in the Southwest, according to the Weather Channel.

Most of the weekend snow — if any — is predicted to fall between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Here’s what you can expect in the Loudoun area:

• Friday Night: A chance of rain and sleet before midnight, then snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 29. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Saturday: Snow likely before 8am, then a chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Northwest wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
