Now, as the 2014 spring season gets underway, homebuilder confidence levels are beginning to heat up, bringing more people back to the housing market. According to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), homebuilder confidence rose one point to a level of 47 in February, as measured by their NAHB/Wells Fargo builder index. Many experts believe the colder and snowier winter is to blame for any variations in market activity, but it clearly hasn’t dampened the spirits of homebuilders!
Earlier this year, the new home industry performed extraordinarily well. The sales of newly constructed single-family homes grew nearly 10% in January to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 468,000. Not only is this a marked improvement from the month before, but it’s the fastest sales pace in five years. Not surprisingly, this incredible surge in new home sales could be contributing to the growing homebuilder confidence levels. But best of all, experts believe the market will follow similar patterns into the spring season, making 2014 a great year to buy a new home.
