STERLING, VA — Flash back to the overnight hours between July 12-13. That's when, once the sun came up, someone reported a 2011 Ford Explorer had been stolen from the area of Maple Leaf Place and Augusta Drive, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. It wasn't immediately found but police dutifully kept an eye out for the missing SUV.

Flash ahead a month later to Aug. 11, or this past Friday. Police finally found the vehicle in question. Thing is, the SUV hadn't been stolen at all. Rather, it had been repossessed.
