Stone Bridge Stuns Heritage

Bulldogs offense dazzles in 56-7 victory

For any one worried, the Stone Bridge offense is just fine.

After struggling to score only seven points in a first week victory against Westfield, the Bulldog offense exploded for seven first half touchdowns and 575 yards of total offense in their home opener against Heritage.

Leading the charge for the Bulldogs were quarterback Brian Rody and running back Marcus Harris.  Rody directed the balanced Bulldog gameplan that shifted effortlessly between a power running game and a spread, shotgun passing attack.  Harris, a first-team all-state selection as a junior, rushed for 118 yards in the first half and scored on touchdown runs of 21 and 30 yards.  Not to be outdone, Rody passed for 247 yards and three touchdowns, including a juggling, highlight-reel worthy, 71-yard touchdown completion to Harris.

With the score 49-0 at halftime, the Bulldogs rested their starters.  Seizing on the opportunity, sophomore running back Sean Bell rushed for 128 yards on just nine carries, including a 69-yard touchdown scamper on the first play of the second half.

Although the night belonged to the Bulldog offense, the defense put forth another impressive effort.  After giving up a 37-yard reception on the first play of the game, the Bulldog defense held the Pride to 110 yards of total offense, including minus 33 yards rushing.  The Bulldogs recorded eight sacks and added a touchdown of their own on Aaron Palmer's fumble recovery in the end zone.
