Students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool in Sterling Soar into Earth Day with Ladybug Release

Students spread their environmental wings and released 1,500 ladybugs into the environment to improve the health of local vegetation

On April 21, students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool on Logan Way in Sterling explored a bug’s life in celebration of Earth Day as they released more than 1,500 ladybugs and butterflies throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Students dressed for the occasion in the likeness of ladybugs, wearing red and black colors. Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Chesterbrook Academy teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at a young age.
