Super Tuesday is looming near! Are you ready?

Super Tuesday, known as the SEC Primary is on March 1st, next Tuesday, are you ready?

Virginia among 23 other states will hold a presidential primary, where the most number of delegates are at stake.

Both the Democratic and Republican races have been exciting as of late, with the Republican race getting even more personal, with the last debate, resembling a celebrity t.v. show, with Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, ganging up on Donald Trump. On the Democratic side, Bernie Sanders is currently very close, but numbers for the mostly southern states do not look favorable to him.

So here are a few news and notes for Ashburn and Loudoun County for SEC Primary Day:

(1) Loudoun County Schools closure: So if you have kids, please remember they are off, due to many of the schools being used as polling stations.

(2) Polling stations: So where may you cast your vote? A complete list may be found here.

(3) Candidates: So who exactly may you cast a vote for? Here is the list from Loudoun County:

Democratic Party Ballot

- Martin O’Malley

Republican Party Ballot

- Lindsey Graham*
- Ben Carson
- Rand Paul
- Mike Huckabee
- Ted Cruz
- Donald Trump
- Jim Gilmore
- Chris Christie
- Jeb Bush
- Rick Santorum
- John Kasich
- Carly Fiorina

*Lindsey Graham is no longer a candidate for the Republican Party nomination for President of the United States. On January 8, 2016, The Republican Party of Virginia filed Lindsey Graham’s official withdrawal letter with the Virginia Department of Elections. Official ballots had already been printed and therefore the name still appears on the ballot (Loudoun County Elections site).

(5) Need to update your information or sign up to vote in November during the presidential election:

Visit www.vote.virginia.gov to complete the online application. If you don’t have your license handy you can still click the link and register online but you’ll need to print and mail the form to our office.

(6) What are the voting requirements?: You must a born in the United States or a naturalized citizen, resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia and at 18 years of age by the day of the next General Election, which is November 8th, 2016.
