SUV, E-Bike Crash Sends 2 Teens To Hospital, LCSO Investigating

ASHBURN, VA – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash involving an SUV and an electric dirt bike that seriously injured two teenagers.

According to the LCSO, deputies responded to the intersection of Ryan Road and Blue Elder Terrace at around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday following reports of a crash. The office says two 14-year-old juveniles were seriously injured in the crash and taken to local hospitals, but their injuries are not considered life-threatening and their conditions are stable. Only one was wearing a helmet.

The LCSO reports that the driver of the SUV was not injured and remained at the scene.

A county public education campaign and e-bike safety program was launched in June after the LCSO reported “seeing more people, both children and adults, riding bikes, scooters, e-bikes, and other devices in ways that put themselves and others at risk.”

The sheriff’s office says it has seen an increase in reckless driving and accidents involving people on stand-up scooters, e-bikes, dirt bikes and other two-wheeled vehicles.
