Thefts From Vehicles In Loudoun County Prompts New Tool: #9PMRoutine

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is teaming up with other area law enforcement agencies for a new program called "#9PMRoutine."

ASHBURN, VA — Well, police have tried everything else regarding getting folks to lock their vehicles, usually or often to no avail, so why not try this? Namely, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is teaming up with other area law enforcement agencies for a new program called "#9PMRoutine."

The hashtag is meant to remind residents to make sure residents lock their vehicles or homes before they go to bed. Said the release announcing the program: "As summer is upon us and the temperatures are beginning to rise, so do the number of larcenies from vehicles and burglaries." Maybe so, but this run of thefts, especially from vehicles, has been going on throughout Northern Virginia for months — even in the dead of winter.
