“Alcohol-related crashes have decreased 28 percent over the past two years in Loudoun County,” Sheriff Mike Chapman said in a statement. “This decrease in DUI-related crashes is evidence that fewer people are getting behind the wheel while intoxicated, but we must remain vigilant in our efforts to reduce these numbers even more.”

Law enforcement officials around the country have implemented education and enforcement efforts, including sobriety checkpoints, to ensure the roads are safe for all motorists by achieving voluntary compliance with the drinking and driving laws, the statement added.
