Here are some tips from the Ashburn Ice House to make you first time on the Ice more enjoyable.
1. Make sure your skates are tied tight and your ankles are secure.
2. Step onto the ice slowly. Stay close to the side of the rink, hold on with one hand for a while, until you are comfortable enough to let go.
3. After becoming more confident, let go of the wall but still stay close enough to it that you can grab it if you need too.
4. Keep your arms in a comfortable position out in front of you. That will help you keep your balance.
5. Bend your knees take small marching steps forward.
6. If you feel like you are going to fall, don’t lean back GRAB YOUR KNEES.
7. Have fun! Don’t be too worried about how well you skate. Practice makes perfect
