Two Area High Schools on U.S. News 'Best High Schools' List

Two high schools in the Loudoun area have been ranked among the 2015 “Best High Schools in Nation,” according to new rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

Released Tuesday, the 2015 rankings include data on more than 21,150 public high schools across the country. The list also included state rankings.

To determine the rankings, U.S. News used math and readings scores from state proficiency tests, as well as “the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work,” using Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate test data.

• Briar Woods High School ranked 9th in Virginia and No. 268 in the nation.
• Loudoun County High School ranked 27th in Virginia and No. 877 in the nation.

Virginia’s top school is Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria,according to U.S. News.
