Now, Uncle Maddio’s is getting ready to open its first Virginia location on Saturday, August 30, in Dulles, Va. within the Washington, D.C. area. The restaurant is located at the Dulles 28 Centre in Loudoun County, Virginia and will throw a grand opening celebration with a free 9-inch, 3-topping pizza for everyone who shows up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Yes, we said free gourmet pizza!!

Franchisee Chris Wadsworth is a proud Loudoun resident who lives in nearby Ashburn with his wife and three boys. He is former TV anchor and reporter so getting into the pizza biz is a major career change. “I’ve wanted to open a restaurant since I was in college, so this is the fulfillment of a life-long dream,” Wadsworth said. “I checked out all the competitors and no one could touch Uncle Maddio’s. The pizzas, the salads, the paninis — they’re all made with the freshest ingredients following recipes designed by a skilled chef. The taste is out of this world.”

The Wadsworth’s have signed a three-unit development agreement with Uncle Maddio’s and plan to open two more locations in Northern Virginia.

Unlike typical pizza places, Uncle Maddio’s offers guests the chance to design their own made- from-scratch 9-inch individual pizza with up to three toppings, baked in a little more than six minutes. They choose from traditional white, whole wheat or gluten-free crusts, and then have their choice from a variety of sauces, cheeses, fresh veggies and meats. There are also kid sized pizzas and larger sizes for big groups or big appetites. For those with special diets, Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint serves up a huge selection of healthful options like whole wheat and gluten free crusts, hormone-free chicken, fresh local vegetables, Daiya vegan cheese and organic greens. Signature salads, create-your-own salads and toasted panini sandwiches round out the Italian-style menu.
