Westpark Golf Course Transformation Continues Despite Neighbors’ Worries: Report

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved plans to allow a disc golf course on the Westpark site over some community objections.

ASHBURN, VA – Loudoun County is moving forward with turning the former Westpark Golf Course in Leesburg into a passive park, despite community fears about noise from a planned disc golf course on the site, WTOP reports.

The county’s board of supervisors approved a plan on April 22 that would transform the former golf course, which closed in 2019, into a park with three miles of trails, pavilions, rest rooms and an 18-hold disc golf course. It’s the latter that has residents worried, according to WTOP.

Some of the park’s neighbors fear the sound of plastic discs hitting chains, a key part of disc golf, will wake children, annoy pets and otherwise disturb their peace.
