Presidents Day falls on Monday, Feb. 21 this year. Many government facilities around Loudoun County will be closed in observance of the day.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Presidents Day will change open hours and schedules around Loudoun County on Monday, Feb. 21.

Many government offices, schools, and other facilities will be closed in observance of the holidays. Other facilities like retail stores and restaurants around the region will probably be open; some locations even host sales for the holiday.

The Presidents Day celebration began decades ago as a way for the federal government to observe George Washington's birthday on the third Monday every February.

Here's a list of the closings and schedule changes to know on Presidents Day 2022 in Loudoun County.

Loudoun County government offices: Closed on Feb. 21.

Town of Leesburg government offices: Closed on Feb. 21.

State courts: Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed Feb. 21.

Loudoun County Public Schools: The school district is closed on Feb. 21.

Department of Motor Vehicles: The state DMV offices are closed on Feb. 21.

Loudoun County Transit: There will be no commuter bus or Metro Connection Bus services on Feb. 21.

Library: The Loudoun County Public Library will be closed on Feb. 21.

Metro: Metrorail and Metrobus typically run on a Saturday schedule on Presidents Day. Metrorail service is adjusted due to the 7000-series railcar investigation.

Post offices: Closed on Feb. 21.

Recreation centers: Open regular hours on Feb. 21.

Leesburg Trash Pick-Up: The Town of Leesburg will collect trash and recycling on its normal schedule on Feb. 21.
