Woman Sexually Assaulted By Uber Driver In Sterling: Police

An Uber driver sexually assaulted a female passenger late last month in eastern Loudoun County, says the LCSO. He was arrested Thursday.

STERLING, VA — An Uber driver sexually assaulted a female passenger late last month in eastern Loudoun County, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Kal Y. Hartermariam, 44, of Sterling, was arrested Thursday and charged with aggravated sexual battery and forcible sodomy. He's being held without bond.

The victim said she was picked up in Herndon by the Uber around 1:30 a.m. Dec. 27. She had been drinking with friends and needed a ride home to Sterling. En route, Hartermariam stopped the vehicle in the area of Rutherford Circle, got into the backseat and assaulted her. She reported the incident later that day.
