Zinga Brings 'Fro-Yo' to Ashburn

The self-serve shop offers variety, creativity and healthy alternatives.

The latest in food trends has hit Ashburn with the arrival of the self-serve “Fro-Yo” shop Fro-Yo is frozen yogurt for those not “in the know.” The fat-free and low-calorie treat now comes in a new and intriguing way. Zinga! is a frozen yogurt bar like no other, offering 12 different frozen yogurt flavors each day and 50 different toppings ranging from jelly beans and strawberries to chocolate chips and caramel sauce. The combinations are endless.

“Customers can come in here and enjoy a low calorie snack or create a fun kids-style treat,” said the franchise’s Managing Partner, Dave Baer.

Zinga!’s frozen yogurt is certified by the National Yogurt Association and contains probiotics, which are good for you. Factor in that its fat free, a good source of vitamin B2 and calcium, low in cholesterol, kosher, and low in sodium and Zinga!’s fro-yo makes a satisfying, guilt-free treat – unless you add the toppings. And with so many delicious garnishes at your disposal, it’s challenging to resist. But that’s the essence of what makes Zinga! different – it’s your choice.

“We encourage creativity,” said Baer. Because it’s self-serve, customers control the size of their treat and just how much to pile on top.

“You don’t have to come in here and spend a lot of money,” Baer said, adding that customers decide how small a small can be, or a large for that matter.

Seasonal flavors are one of Zinga!’s specialties. Recently, the shop served up pumpkin pie frozen yogurt and soon will be introducing apple pie, peppermint and eggnog. Fans of the franchise’s Facebook page are alerted to the flavors of the day, which change every 3 days.

Since its recent opening, Zinga! has accumulated more 1,000 fans on Facebook.

“Word is spreading,” Baer said, which is great news since the franchise launched just this year. “We’re new and we’re happy to be in Ashburn. It’s a great town, great community and we’ve received a warm welcome.”

And in return for that warm welcome, Zinga! will give customers a cold – or should that be frozen – one?
