• Bedford, Virginia Town Council Talks Delay in Boutique Hotel Project (hotel-online.com) — Bedford's Town Council is pressing developer Waukeshaw to restart work on converting the historic "Old Yellow" school on Longwood Avenue into the long-promised Hotel Fauna, after delays following a 2020 fire and stop-work order. Councilors debated penalties and even foreclosure, while the mayor urged caution, stressing the project's $10 million scale and its importance for Bedford's tax base and downtown revitalization.
   

• Police investigate fatal Bedford County crash (wset.com) — Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash on Moneta Road in Bedford County that occurred Sunday evening and later claimed the life of 74-year-old Bedford resident Jimmy Lee Orange. Troopers say his Ford F-150 ran off the right side of the road, vaulted, and struck an embankment; he was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
