1 Dead, 2 Injured In West Springfield Crash: Police

The driver killed in the crash at Fairfax County Parkway and Rolling Road had been ejected from the vehicle.

WEST SPRINGFIELD, VA — One person is dead and two are injured after a three-vehicle crash in the West Springfield area Friday.

The crash happened in the area of Rolling Road and Fairfax County Parkway. Police believe a driver of a 2008 Lexus was heading south on Fairfax County Parkway at a high rate of speed. The vehicle struck a 2015 Honda Odyssey and a 2019 Honda CRV. The Lexus overturned, and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. He was identified as Syed-Humza Mahmood, 23, of Annandale. The other two drivers suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, but detectives do not believe alcohol was involved. Anyone with information can contact the Crash Reconstruction Unit at 703-280-0543.
