Accusations Of Assault At Springfield School Were False: Report

The Immanuel Christian School student said three boys did not cut her dreadlocks as she originally alleged.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — After an African American student accused three boys of cutting her dreadlocks in an attack at Immanuel Christian School in Springfield, she now says the assault did not happen.

The girl's grandparents sent a statement to The Washington Post apologizing for the accusations. The statement reads: "To those young boys and their parents, we sincerely apologize for the pain and anxiety these allegations have caused. To the administrators and families of Immanuel Christian School, we are sorry for the damage this incident has done to trust within the school family and the undue scorn it has brought to the school."

The 12-year-old girl had accused three fellow sixth-grade classmates of holding her down, cutting her dreadlocks and calling her hair "nappy" and "ugly" on the playground on Sept. 23, according to WTOP.
