Fairfax County Primary Voter Guide: What’s On The Aug. 4 Ballot

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — The Virginia Department of Elections has requested a primary election to nominate Democratic and Republican candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives and local offices.

Fairfax County voters will see different contests depending on which party's ballot they choose, as well as their congressional district.In the Democratic primary, voters in the 8th District will have a U.S. House of Representatives contest on the ballot. There will be no Democratic primary in the 10th or 11th districts.

In the Republican primary, voters in the 8th and 11th districts will have a U.S. Senate contest on the ballot. In the 10th District, Republican voters will have U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives contests on the ballot.

Early voting for the primary began on June 18 and ended on Aug. 1. Voters are not registered by party in Virginia, so any registered voter can cast a ballot in the primary they choose.

Fairfax County polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. A list of precincts can be found here.

Voters can check their registration and find their precinct here.

Voting by mail

Completed ballots must be returned by 7 p.m., Aug. 4.

• Mail ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before Aug. 4 and received by 12 p.m. Aug. 7.
• Mail ballots can also be dropped of at a drop box. Find drop box locations here.
