FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — One driver died and another was seriously injured in an early-morning crash Sunday on Interstate 495 in Fairfax County, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, on northbound I-495 south of Braddock Road, police said.
A state trooper who responded to the scene found a Toyota Camry on fire and a white BMW with front-end damage, according to police.
The Camry's driver died at the scene. Police had not released the driver's identity as of Sunday.
The BMW's driver was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash remains under investigation.
