Man Extradited To U.S. For 2016 Burke, Springfield Murders
Police have charged a man for two murders in the days leading up to Christmas 2016.

BURKE, VA—Fairfax County Police have made an arrest in two 2016 murders in Burke and Springfield. Yohannes Nessibu, 24, was charged with two counts of homicide and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Nessibu left the U.S. for Ethiopia before being indicted. He was taken into custody by Ethiopian authorities in February and was extradited to the U.S. in May.
Police determined early on the deaths did not appear to be random. The two victims were Ethiopian-Americans and associates of Nessibu.

The separate murders happened less than a day apart. Police responded to the first incident around 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 22, 2016. A man identified as Henok G. Yohannes, 22, was found dead inside his home in the 6400 block of Blarney Stone Court in Springfield.
The second incident was reported around 9 a.m. on Dec. 23, 2016. A resident in the 6500 block of Cordwood Court in Burke found a woman who wasn't moving on the ground in the backyard. The victim, Kedest Sileshi Simeneh, 22, of the 6400 block of Kroy Drive in Springfield, was pronounced dead on the scene.
