Assistance League's Weekend Food For Kids Supports Local Schools
Assistance League Volunteers and Dominion Energy Employees Partner to Provide Bags of Nonperishable Food for Distribution in March
Members of Assistance League of Northern Virginia were happy to hold another food packing this month with employees of Dominion Energy – Virginia, which has been the charity’s partner for the Weekend Food for Kids Program for more than 10 years. Once again, the volunteers packed 1,660 bags of food and delivered them the same day to 6 area elementary schools.
This month’s event was even more memorable because the two organizations joined in recognizing a Dominion employee who had been a tireless helper at the monthly food packings. Ron not only arrived early to help open the cartons of items to be packed and place the cartons at the correct packing station on the assembly lines, but he also loaded up his truck and delivered more than 700 bags to two area schools. Because Ron had retired during the pandemic, Assistance League members were very pleased that he attended the March food packing so that his dedication to the weekend food program could be recognized. As a token of gratitude for his dedicated service, Assistance League presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation and a restaurant gift card.
