Baby Flying Squirrels Rescued From Fire In Fairfax
Crews found the baby animals barely breathing when responding to a brush fire on Sideburn Road.

FAIRFAX, VA—A call about a brush fire alerted the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department to young animals in need Sunday in Fairfax.
After 11 a.m., crews responded to the brush fire in the 5000 block of Sideburn Road. They found two baby flying squirrels that were barely breathing and provided medical aid and oxygen.
The fire department said in a Facebook post the baby animals were revived and are "doing well." The animals were handed over to the Fairfax County Animal Protection Police.
