BURKE, VA — Burke Centre Conservancy, the homeowners association for the Burke area, is opening pools for the summer season starting this weekend. Burke and the region are under phase two of Virginia's reopening plan, which has specific guidelines for pools.

The Commons and Oaks Pools will open on at 10 a.m. June 20. The remaining three pools, Landings, Ponds and Woods Pools, are expected to open between June 24 and 27. Check the Burke Centre pools web page for individual hours.

Forward Virginia's phase two guidance allows indoor and outdoor pools to open for lap swimming, diving, exercise, and instruction only. Lap swimming is limited to three people per lane with 10 feet of physical distance. Seating can be provided with 10 feet of spacing between households. Hot tubs, spas, saunas, splash pads, spray pools and interactive play features must be closed.

Burke Centre's pools will follow phase two rules aligning with the governor's guidance. No more than 50 people will be allowed into the pool facilities at a time, and guests must maintain 10 feet of distance from others. Use of pool furniture will not be allowed, but guests can bring their own items. Face coverings are required but can be removed in the pools as long as physical distancing is maintained.

Pools will be limited to members. Burke Centre residents and non-residents may apply for memberships. Guests are not allowed in phase two, but that policy could change depending on future reopening phases.
