Burke Man Fires Gun In Argument: Police

A nearby elementary school was secured as police responded to the dispute in Burke.

BURKE, VA—A man is accused of firing a gun at another person during an argument in Burke Tuesday morning, temporarily putting a nearby elementary school on lockdown.

Police received a report of a shot fired around 10:20 a.m. in the 6400 block of Fenestra Court. The accused had shot a gun at another man as they were arguing, according to police. The victim did not get injured.

Dahsaan Fields, 18, of Burke was arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and brandishing firearm. Police have taken the gun believed to have been used in the incident.

The nearby White Oaks Elementary School said in an email to parents the building was secured due to police activity. This was lifted a short time later.

Fields will appear in court April 10.
