Burke Man Hits Mailbox With Stolen Vehicle: Police

An original call about a suspicious person turned into a case of a stolen vehicle and damaged property, police say.

BURKE, VA—Police have arrested and charged a Burke man for stealing a car and damaging property early Fourth of July morning.

Around 7:10 a.m. police were called to the 5600 block of Burke Centre Parkway for a suspicious person report. Officers spoke with Raymond Braxton, 27, of Burke, who was determined to have a stolen vehicle and stolen property.

Police believe Braxton stole the vehicle earlier in the night and damaged a mailbox while fleeing. Braxton was arrested and charged with auto-theft, possession of stolen goods, destruction of property, hit and run and driving on a suspended license. He was also served with an outstanding warrant.

Other incidents reported in the last two days in the West Springfield District include:

Burglary: 7700 block of Backlick Road, between the dates of 7/02/2018 and 7/03/2018. An employee reported that someone entered the business, removed and damaged property.
