Bystander Witnesses Break-In At Burke District Camera

The business was targeted by a break-in months ago. This time, police caught some suspects.

BURKE, VA—A resident's observant eye helped police catch suspects in a break-in at District Camera in Burke Friday, Dec. 14.

Police were notified about the break-in by the business alarm and the concerned resident's call around 4:37 a.m. When officers arrived at the Burke Town Center store, the suspects fled in two cars.

The suspects wouldn't pull over despite police attempts to pull them over. One of the cars was eventually stopped.

Police arrested and charged Dowon Smith, 35, of Louisville, Ky. with burglary, larceny with intent to sell, grand larceny and possession of burglarious tools. Darnell King, 36, of Raleigh, N.C., was charged with burglary, larceny with intent to sell, unauthorized use of automobile and possession of burglarious tools. Ryan Yenawine, 21, of no fixed address, was charged with burglary, larceny with intent to sell, grand larceny and possession of burglarious tools. Deshawn Hamby, 34, of Louisville, Ky., was charged with burglary, larceny with intent to sell, grand larceny, and unauthorized use of automobile.

Officers were not able to track down the second vehicle. The incident remains under investigation.

A separate break-in happened at the business in September. Police did not say if the incidents were related.
