Construction Set To Begin On New Playground At Lake Accotink Park
Construction activities related to the installation of a new playground at Lake Accotink Park are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
SPRINGFIELD, VA — The Fairfax County Park Authority is scheduled to begin construction activities related to the installation of a new playground at Lake Accotink Park on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
The playground will be installed in the same geographic footprint where the previous playground was removed in May.
The new playground will feature a variety of equipment for children of all ages and abilities. The design will include a tower play structure with a winding slide, boulder climber, four swings, net climber, playhouse, dragonfly teeter-totter, musical panels, and tactile and visual features to provide children with a variety of play experiences.

The project will cost about $300,000 and was funded through one-time funding approved by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Supplemental funds will be provided through the Fairfax County Park Authority. The project is expected to be completed this fall.
Lake Accotink Park is located at 7500 Accotink Park Road in Springfield.
