Cop Catches FCPS Teacher In Child Sex Sting

A former teacher at West Springfield and Westfield High Schools has been charged in a child sex sting.

According to Fairfax County Police, Norman Achin, 50, of Woodbridge contacted an undercover officer posing as a teenager on a social media application. The suspect started a conversation and requested sexual contact with the supposed teenager. He is also accused of sending the cop a sexually explicit image, likely of himself.

Detectives identified Achin as the suspect and arrested him. He was charged with attempted indecent liberties and use of a communication device to solicit a minor and is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Achin taught at Westfield and West Springfield during the winter of the 2017-2018 school year. Fairfax County Public Schools has suspended him without pay.
