Dog Saved After Falling Through Thin Ice in Burke

Crews from Burke Fire Station 414 were dispatched Friday to help Dani, a black Lab.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue officers saved a dog Friday that fell through thin ice in Burke.

Crews from Burke Fire Station 414 were dispatched Friday for a dog that had fallen through thin ice. The dog’s owner attempted to rescue the dog and was unable to reach her due to the cold water. The owner exited the water and called for assistance, according to the Fairfax Fire and Rescue’s Facebook page.

Pictured is Dani, the 1.5-year-old Black Lab, in the icy water. The second picture is with one of her rescuers, Master Technician ā€œBig Dogā€ Doran. Fairfax County Animal Services Officer Enna Lugo and the rest of the Animal Control Officers alsoĀ responded. Mutual training and teamwork delivered a successful outcome for all, police noted.
