Head-On Crash Kills Alexandria Driver On Fairfax County Parkway
A head-on crash involving three vehicles killed one driver and injured another Monday morning on Fairfax County Parkway.

FAIRFAX STATION, VA — A driver died in a head-on crash Monday on the Fairfax County Parkway, according to Fairfax County Police.
Police and fire responded to a fatal crash on the Fairfax County Parkway at Ox Road around 5:56 a.m. Monday. Based on initial investigations, police believe the driver of a 2013 Honda Civic heading north on the parkway lost control of the vehicle and crossed the grass median. The vehicle had a head-on collision with a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek driving in the southbound lanes. In addition, the driver of a 2013 Chevrolet Van crashed into the Subaru.
The driver of the 2013 Honda Civic, Elizabeth Wallgren, 61, of Alexandria, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Subaru driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other driver remained on scene.

This was the 18th non-pedestrian crash fatality in Fairfax County this year. By this time last year, there were 10 fatalities.
Police continue to investigate the crash. Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash. Anyone with information can call the Crash Reconstruction Unit at 703-280-0543.
