Fire Causes More Than $200,000 Damage to Burke Home
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. A malfunctioning dehumidifier in the basement caused the fire.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue units responded Friday afternoon to a house on fire in the Burke area of Fairfax County, according to the department. The single-family home is located in the 5200 block of Dunleigh Drive (see map below for approximate location).
Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the rear and basement of the two-story home when they arrived on the scene at about 4:15 p.m., the department said.
Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes, according to the fire department.

The occupants were alerted by a sounding smoke alarm and escaped unharmed, the fire department said. Red Cross support was offered but declined by the occupants. Seven occupants have been displaced. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at approximately $219,000.
